A course syllabus can set a tone of inclusion, welcome, and rigor. In this session, participants will explore how to create inclusive, welcoming syllabi that also signal intellectual challenge. Participants will:

  • Identify multiple purposes for syllabi
  • Consider specific elements of a standard syllabus that can be easily altered and the benefits of doing so
  • Identify elements of a syllabus that could be changed over time and the potential benefits of this

This session is open to all UChicago instructors. It will be led by Cheryl R. Richardson, PhD, Director of Inclusive Teaching Excellence at Adler University. Cheryl is a former member of the University of Chicago's Chicago Center for Teaching and Learning.
