Department chairs are often required to work out solutions with deans, faculty, staff, and students. In other words, they need to negotiate. Some of these negotiation revolve around resources (money, space, lines), but other negotiations involve potential collaborations or partnerships with other departments or centers, or conversations with colleagues about teaching, committee assignments, or other critical departmental activities. George Wu, the John P. and Lillian A. Gould Professor of Behavioral Science at the Booth School of Business, will share negotiation principles to help you navigate the various negotiations you face as department chairs.
