Being an excellent presenter can affect whether people are aware of and understand your scholarship. Whether you are presenting to a specific audience or to the general public, how you present can increase your impact as a scholar and educator. Excellent presentation skills can also help you gain funding for your research. In this session, you’ll learn best practices for preparing and delivering academic presentations for a variety of audiences. You will also learn about mistakes to avoid. The session will be led by Eric Schnure, executive communications professional and former White House speechwriter, and Kathleen Cagney, Professor in the Department of Sociology and the College and Deputy Dean, Division of the Social Sciences.
