Are you planning a move, relocating cross-country or internationally, downsizing your living space, or ready to declutter after working from home during the pandemic? This workshop focuses on some of the unique challenges common to academic families: large quantities of books, papers, and beloved mementos from a life filled with international travel. Topics will include best practices for managing a parallel home and office move, how to responsibility "re-home" or donate a wide variety of belongings, and where to save money and when to hire help. We’ll also highlight working with UChicago Library’s Hanna Holborn Gray Special Collections Research Center when donating academic papers. This workshop will be led by Liv Leader, Director of the Office of Dual Careers and Faculty Relocation, who has guided many families through the challenging work of downsizing and relocating to a new home. Please include specific questions when registering so the workshop can be tailored to attendee interest. Workshop is open to faculty, faculty partners, emeriti, and staff.
