Challenging conversations about societal concerns can be a part of rigorous engagement, requiring students to explore various points of view as they discern their stance. These moments are also unexpected, as students come to class with vexing questions and concerns about the world on their minds. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to strategies for planning for difficult discussions and for constructively reacting to unexpected, fraught moments. The session will be led by Cheryl Richardson, Director of Inclusive Teaching Excellence at Adler University.
