Managing departmental concerns of harassment, discrimination, or sexual misconduct can be challenging and time consuming for chairs. This session will identify tools and strategies you can utilize in these situations as well various resources that are available to you as chair. After completing this session, chairs should be able to:

  • Develop a plan to proactively communicate and avail resources to the department related to harassment, discrimination, or sexual misconduct.
  •  Respond effectively when concerns arise and refer individuals to the appropriate campus resources.
  • Differentiate the roles of the Title IX coordinator, Dean of Students, Human Resources, Sexual Assault Dean on Call, and other campus resources.

The session will be led by Bridget Collier, Associate Provost for Equal Opportunity Programs, and Liz Honig, Executive Director for the Center for Awareness, Resolution, Education, and Support (UChicago CARES).
