Through discussion and analyses of experience, this series helps faculty develop the skills needed to provide ongoing and successful mentoring of graduate students. Based on evidence-based facilitation from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experience in Research (CIMER), mentor training includes interactive workshops that focus on communicating effectively, aligning expectations, mentoring across difference and having difficult conversations. This workshop will focus on aligning expectations and clearly communicating with the mentee; designing and communicating clear goals for the mentoring relationship; and considering how differences may affect the relationship. It will be led by staff from the Chicago Center for Teaching.
