The Core is a defining feature of undergraduate education in the College and can be one of the more rewarding teaching experiences at UChicago. Join the Masters of the Humanities and Social Sciences Collegiate Divisions and new and experienced Core instructors to discuss the aims and methods of Core teaching at the eighth annual Forum on Teaching in the Core.

The Core Forum will provide:

  • A venue for discussing Core pedagogy. Join new and experienced colleagues to discuss the goals and distinctive pedagogical issues that characterize Humanities, Civilization Studies, Arts, and Social Sciences Core courses.
  • Information on relevant campus resources. A range of offices, centers, and other units at the University provide services and programs that support and enhance teaching and learning in the Core.
  • A continuing conversation. Join colleagues for regular discussions and workshops on teaching issues relevant to the Core throughout the academic year. See the schedule for upcoming events.

This event is open to everyone and is aimed at those teaching in the Humanities and Social Sciences Collegiate Divisions in 2022-2023 (particularly those who are new to the Core), including faculty, instructional professors, lecturers, Harper-Schmidt Fellows, Teaching Fellows, and graduate student instructors.

The Core Forum is presented by the Chicago Center for Teaching and Learning and the College. Registration is required by September 9.
